We the men and women of Highland Hose welcome you to our house! We are part of the North Evans Fire District, which has two fire companies, Highland Hose and North Evans. We have provided ISO 4 rated protection for the 6000 people in our 25 square mile coverage area since 1937. Our members are “Keeping the Spirit Alive” with 2 engines, an ambulance, a heavy rescue and an UTV.

They help us provide comprehensive fire protection, fire prevention, rescue, and EMS services to our community.

Today, we have roughly 40 active firefighters and EMS only members and auxiliary members.

You’re always welcome to stop by any Wednesday night after 630pm or during the year during our many events! Some of those events include our April Open House, July/August Splash Pad, September Highland Happenings, October Haunted House and Christmas with Santa and Parade.

Why do I see Red/Black and Blue Trucks on calls?

The North Evans Fire District is made up of two (2) fire companies, Highland Hose & North Evans. Many of our call types require both companies.

It’s 2025, why do you still have a siren at the station?

While technology has improved and helped notify us of calls; sometimes it’s known to fail. The station house siren is another means of alerting our members. We also look at it as a way to notify the public that we have a call and that we will be moving around; look out for us and please be respectful.

What age can I Join?

Highland Hose members must be at least 18 to be a firefighter, however our Junior Firefighter program starts at 14 years old.

What does my fire tax go towards?

The North Evans Fire District collects tax revenue from those whom live within the Fire District. That money goes towards our apparatus, equipment, insurance, the fire stations, etc.

Our company Fundraisers go towards the members of Highland. Allowing our yearly installation dinner, family picnic, clothing and many other non-firematic related purchases, including donating to local charities or other needs.
